Dianhydride monomers are key raw materials used with diamines to synthesize polyimides. Their molecular structures influence the optical transparency, thermal stability, mechanical properties, and processability of the resulting polymers. They are used in research and development for transparent films, flexible displays, electronic materials, and other advanced polymer applications.
UCHEM offers seven dianhydride monomers for optical display materials and advanced polyimide research: s-BPDA, ODPA, CBDA, DMCBDA, TAHQ, 3-(Carboxymethyl)-1,2,4-cyclopentanetricarboxylic acid 1,4:2,3-dianhydride, and BPAF. These products cover aromatic, ether-linked, cycloaliphatic, and fluorene-based molecular structures.
Selection depends on the target polymer's required optical, thermal, mechanical, and processing properties. For example, CBDA is relevant to transparent polyimide research, ODPA introduces ether linkages into the polymer backbone, and s-BPDA is used in high-performance aromatic polyimides. The final properties also depend on the diamine, polymerization conditions, and film-processing method.
